When creating scales, some of the notes will be flats (b) and not sharps (#). For example the scale of F major has the following notes:

The same letter cannot appear twice in the same scale, so you can see from the scale of F major that we have a Bb and not an A#.
We have already discussed how to create major and natural minor scales by using intervals.
There are three different types of minor scales. In addition to the natural minor scale there are also the harmonic minor and melodic minor scales.
